Exponential Notation - A way of expressing large numbers in a simple way.  To write a number in exponential notation, follow these steps.

Let's start with the number 10,000.  Put a decimal point to the right of the 1.  Then count the number of zeroes to the right of the decimal point.  The number of zeroes is the exponent.  Put the exponent to the upper right of a 10.

104 means 10X10X10X10 which is equal to 10,000.  105 means 100,000, and so on.

On the chart that led you to this definition, the red 104 on the right side means 10,000 MCF of gas per monthSince an MCF is one thousand cubic feet, this number is actually 10,000,000 (ten million) cubic feet per month.
